Beauty FAQ

What is micellar water?

Micellar water is a one-step cleanser that removes makeup, pollutants, and impurities from your skin. The special ‘no rinse’ formula is unique to micellar cleansing water, gently removing all makeup residue with the sweep of a cotton pad, leaving your complexion refreshed and perfectly prepped for toning and moisturising.

Clarins micellar water is infused with natural plant extracts to cleanse, brighten, and detoxify. Enriched with Organic Yellow Gentian and Organic Lemon Balm, Clarins Cleansing Micellar Water helps to preserve the skin microbiota and kisses goodbye to pollution particles, too.

For younger faces, the My Clarins RE-MOVE Micellar Cleansing Milk has all the cleansing efficacy of micellar water with the added comfort of a milk — ideal if you prefer a moisturising cleanser. Especially kind to sensitive skin, it’s richly infused with Moringa to cleanse and detoxify and Fig extract to hydrate and soothe. Both our Cleansing Micellar Water and My Clarins RE-MOVE Micellar Cleansing Milk are suited to all skin types.

Micellar water and cleansers

Although micellar water removes makeup with great efficacy, we recommend using a gentle cleanser afterwards if you have oily or acne-prone skin or suffer from breakouts. This technique, known as double cleansing, can be a really effective way to treat blemish-prone skin — or just to supercharge your skincare routine. Cleansing after using micellar water helps to remove any residue leftover from SPF, heavier foundations, or wax/oil based products, which can contribute to breakouts. A simple yet effective cleanser tailored to your skin type also helps to address other skincare concerns, such as an imbalanced PH, excess oil or acne. Our cleansers for oily skin help to gently rebalance and remove impurities.

Is micellar water a toner?

Although they may look similar, toner and micellar water are two different products. Micellar water is a gentle cleansing water designed to remove makeup, whereas a toner naturally rebalances skin PH and helps to smooth overall skin texture and refine pores.

Is micellar water good?

Yes! Micellar water is a gentle yet effective way to cleanse skin. We recommend using a plant-based formula that’s kind to skin, enriched with natural ingredients to gently remove all traces of makeup, pollutants, and SPF.
